My sweet inner child, looking through a grown woman’s eyes
Peering out unsure, knowing this world lies
If able to climb out, wonder what she would say?
Papa is it safe yet? Can we talk awhile? Please stay!
The things we’ve survived and oh what we’ve seen
The pain and the hatred, so much have we grieved
So, in timidity we peek out, from time to time
Very unsure of what we will find
But never wanting to miss the moment when, for Him we do shine
