Remembering God’s Grace

My published poem, written in February 2002 along with a part of my story made it in our county news paper. The poem simply titled “HE” is autobiographical and showed the mental torment in my mind due to the abuse occurring, during an otherwise horrifying time in my life, and how much of an oxymoron love and abuse together are. Even after this published, without knowing who I was in Christ abuse continued to be a normal part of my life. It was during this season of life that I lost my oldest son to one of my abusers bringing me to a place of despair and a very dark time of no longer caring what happened to me. Only by the grace of God and His hand continually on my life have I not only been set free, but also am learning there is no shame in my story, just a shining example of His love, strength and glory. I am God’s forever thankful daughter, redeemed, clean and forever free in HIM.

*************trigger warning****************

“HE”

He bites you, but he loves you

He hits you, but he loves you

He urinates on you, but he loves you

He throws things at you, but he loves you

He pulls your hair out, but he loves you

He rams your back and head into things, but he loves you

He rapes you constantly, but he loves you

He defiles even your mind, but he loves you

He grabs and flings you into things, but he loves you

He strangles you, but he loves you

He pulls a knife on you, but he loves you

He threatens to kill you and chop you in pieces, but he loves you

He threatens to harm your family if you try to leave, but he loves you

He’s no respecter of children in your arms, but he loves you

He tries to help you out of a second story window, but he loves you

He wants a gun for your head, but he loves you

He constantly stalks and harasses when you finally leave, but he loves you

He kidnaps and holds your child hostage until you return, but he loves you

He frightens and pays people off to stay away from you, but he loves you

He violates court orders then fakes strokes to get out of the consequences, but he loves you.

It takes a special underground protection program to finally make you safe, but he loves you.

DON’T YOU KNOW HE DOES IT ALL BECAUSE HE “LOVES YOU”

  1. I just saw this now, and I don’t know what to say. I am so glad you have found Jesus for your healing and I want to bless you for having the strength to share your journey with the world. We need to hear this. May God continue to be your strength.
